Fitness

Don't think it matters what you look like or how you are shaped, what matters is that you keep fit and healthy to help prevent illness.  My mom now consumes Shakeology.  Her years of illness, recent diagnosis of Parkinsons, PreCancer and other medical problems had left her having difficulty walking.  No proof, but now that she uses Shakeology (Chocolate), she is more mobile, blood pressure is normal and she is having more energy.  The more energy, less cravings, leveled blood sugars and weight loss are the common things that patients, friends and family are telling me they are experiencing.  What is your story of health and nutrition!

Losing the Way!

Sorry, I have not posted for a few days.  Chick lost her way for a little while.  I am back with the help of some dear friends, Carlos, Adam, Chalene's words, Jerry, Robert, and the wisdom of growth.  Thanks for knowing right where I am suppose to go and be, most of all thanks for helping me remember that losing your way is part of life and growth.  Life is about learning and without mistakes how would a person ever learn?  Wise words and love and make anyone feel warm as well as providing soup for the soul.

Endurance and Strength is what Matters!

As I was talking to a Beachbody customer the other day, she said to me, "I am too heavy to be a coach."  Sometimes I think Beachbody took a wrong angle at what they called "representatives of their product", but then again they didn't.  The first thing that most people think about when they think of coaching is the way a person looks.  I mean face it, how many of us had an overweight gym teacher.  Now I see it as inspirational.  A coach is someone who helps you believe in yourself and your abilities.  It doesn't matter how much a person ways or what they look like.  What matters is can they inspire, instill hope, encourage and help you strive to become your best?  THAT IS WHAT A COACH IS! INSPIRATION, DREAMER, BELIEVER, HOPEFUL, SPIRITUAL, DEDICATED AND IS OKAY WITH FAILING AND GETTING BACK ON HIS OR HER FEET!

Dedication!

Interesting topic for a Sunday Holiday.  I want to talk about dedication.  Sticking with something no matter what it is, diet, exercise, stop smoking, new career, starting a career and so on comes from within.  Your mind controls your reactions.  When you say to yourself everyday that you can do it you will do it.  Don't use the words maybe, well I could or I don't know....Say I will and plan a specific date of when you will accomplish this goal.  Accountability is everything! Don't ever say to yourself, "I never was the type."  Everyone is the type and everyone is just as important as the person next to them.  You can do it.  Even if you need to reach out to someone like me to help encourage you.  If you want to start working out start today.  I tell people they can join the team beachbody club for free.  Yea you can join for free and I haven't had one person do it.  What better company to go through than the one P90X was created from.  Take the first step to believing in yourself and I will stand beside you providing hope, faith and courage all the way.  Go to http://beachbodycoach.com/TurboBear today and lets start changing your life!

Holiday....

For many of us, tomorrow brings family gatherings and remembering those we have lost.  I want to wish everyone a great holiday.  Remember compassion for those who are alone and love appreciation for people who are helping your Holiday be a special one!

Thoughts! Mistakes!Hurting!

I had an interesting thought with a friend today.  We were on the discussion of looking at ourselves and realizing when one needs to be accountable for his or her own actions.  Throughout life, whether it be bad judgement, wrong addictions, erratic behavior or just not doing anything at all, we all have experienced feelings associated with bad decisions.  What is important is that when you realize you make a bad decision is not to deny or blame others but to "get real" with yourself and admit what has happened.  Life isn't suppose to be perfect. We as human beings are not suppose to be perfect.  People are suppose to make mistakes, feelings will get hurt and bonds may or may not be permanently broken.  It is what life is suppose to be, LEARNING.  Don't be afraid to learn but most of all don't be afraid of failure or making mistakes.

Flip that switch!

People constantly ask me what they can do to motivate themselves to do the things they

know they should.... It's a switch. Nothing I can tell you will flip that switch. You have to

want it bad enough...whatever "it" is.

Comedy and Smiles a Remedy for Depression!

A child laughs about 400 times a day. An adult about 15.  This is so sad.  I have been practicing for fourteen years and know the magical powers of laughter.  Have you ever just put in a comedy and laughed?  Have you felt the magical powers of laughter?  What is the funniest movie, comic or show you can watch when you are feeling sad or depressed?

Don't go below 1,200 calories a day, or !,500 a day for men or women taller than 5' 9'' .
Your body needs proper nutrition to burn fat efficiently. Otherwise, your body will think it's
starving and slow your metabolism. NOT GOOD!

There are a lot of single moms and dads out there doing an amazing job and doing your

to those who find themselves in a single parent situation?

Questions about Depression!

Every day I see people and patients that are depressed.  Feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness.  I cannot stress how important it is to reach out and talk to someone.  If what ever faith you believe in, if we were meant to be in this world alone and not ask for help, we would have been put on this planet alone.  I want to share with people what has helped me become less depressed, which is fitness and Shakeology. However, it may not be what some want.  So if you have questions or need help you can reach out to me and ask! Besides doing beachbody I am a psychologist.

Home Workout or Gym?

I don't know.  I sat here the other night and added up my gym dues.  For a single person like myself, I was paying 60 dollars a month.  Wow, I don't know.  I went to Home Workouts like Turbofire and P90X.  I pay one price and have it forever.  Not only that, Chalene Johnson who invented TurboFire did a better job at putting definition in my abs than the gym ever did.  I don't know, maybe others have a different view, but I have no worries about rushing to the gym and spending extra money on gas.

Challenges

Set difficult, yet achievable goals. We all need a mix of challenge & successes.  Without failure a person cannot achieve.  I always have had a difficult time wrapping my brain around people who get jealous.  Jealousy is human nature, but there are healthy ways to approach it.  I choose to learn from those I get jealous of.  Absorb enough information from them and admire what they can accomplish.  I do this because those are the people who can help you achieve goals in your life and help you become what you want to become.  So the next time jealousy runs in your mind think "what can I learn from this person, what might they know that will help me achieve those successes."

Introduction!

If you have ever seen a mental health therapist, I am sure that most of you have heard that exercise decreases anxiety, depression and other mental health symptoms. Researchers determined years ago that exercise has antidepressant properties and improves brain functioning (Leonard Holmes). It’s medically proven that exercise not only shape and tone your body, but it triggers production of endorphins. Researchers have also found that some studies showed that exercise boosts activity in the brain’s frontal lobes and hippocampus (Leonard Holmes). Studies have indicated that exercise increases the levels of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine.

Aerobic exercises, including jogging, swimming, cycling, walking, gardening, and dancing, have been proved to reduce anxiety and depression (Sharma, Madaan & Petty, 2006). Improvements in a person’s mood are proposed to be caused by exercise. Exercise increases blood circulation to the brain and by an influence on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and, thus, on the physiologic reactivity to stress (Sharma, Madaan & Petty, 2006). Other positive effects of exercise are distraction from problems, self-efficacy and social interaction.
“Exercise is especially important in patients with schizophrenia since these patients are already vulnerable to obesity and also because of the additional risk of weight gain associated with antipsychotic treatment, especially with the atypical antipsychotics. Patients suffering from schizophrenia who participated in a 3-month physical conditioning program showed improvements in weight control and reported increased fitness levels, exercise tolerance, reduced blood pressure levels, increased perceived energy levels, and increased upper body and hand grip strength levels.5 Thirty minutes of exercise of moderate intensity, such as brisk walking for 3 days a week, is sufficient for these health benefits. Moreover, these 30 minutes need not to be continuous; three 10-minute walks are believed to be as equally useful as one 30-minute walk (Sharma, Madaan & Petty, 2006).”
